The children found the bones "in a heavily wooded section of Reservoir Park," on Thursday, June 21, 2023, according to the Highspire Borough Police Department.
Citizen's Fire Company #1 of Highspire came to the scene to help clear the brush and provided lighting so that Highspire Police and the Dauphin County Forensic Team could process the scene.
The Dauphin County Coroner's Office was called and confirmed the bones were human remains.
"No identification has been made and the investigation is ongoing. Further information will be released as it becomes available," the police concluded.
